Satellite Uplink Capabilities

Broadcast facilities are connected to C-Band Uplink via broadcast analog fiber-optic system.
Connected to State of West Virginia Educational Broadcast Authority's statewide microwave backbone.

Satellite Downlinking
2 steerable C/Ku band earthstations

2 fixed network specific (TipTv, VHA) digital earthstations.

Network connectivity
Connected via 2 PRI ISDN lines
One system on 3 BRI ISDN lines
ATM WAN connectivity to the public ATM network.

Communication Education Network, Closed Circuit Television Network.
Two channels to deliver education, training, and information to Medical Center Staff on three campuses. Program content is varied from in house productions, purchased video tapes, locally generated live programming and satellite feeds.

Video streaming and on demand education across hospital network and on Internet.

Patient Education channels, CCTV
Automated playback and on demand programming delivered to all inpatient rooms. Content consists on in-house produced educational videos and purchased programming. Each channel is targeted to specific illnesses.

Distance Education Facilities
2 electronic classrooms configured to act as both origination locations and receive locations and needed. All media types are directly input to the video systems. 4 (2 on the Memorial Campus and 1 each on the other CAMC campuses) electronic meeting rooms with educational origination capabilities. 326 seat Auditorium wired to allow video reception and broadcasting.

Telemedicine Program
Affiliated with MDTV with 20 sites on an ISDN network
3 ATM connected sites.
All ATM and ISDN sites have both education and consultation capabilities.
Connected with OPTINET with 5 sites.

Interface with other networks in West Virginia
Connection with Southern West Virginia Community College locations.
Connection with West Virginia University's IVIN Two Way Interactive educational network.
Connection with other national ISDN networks such and Voluntary Hospitals of America, NIH and others.

Staff
The CAMC Health Education & Media Department's employees are multitalented in various areas of media development. Their experience and formal education covers video production, editing (linear and digital), telecommunication technology, broadcasting, journalism, photography, computer graphics, multimedia design and web development. They have produced, directed and written content for various videos, CBT programs, and printed material (books, posters and lectures) etc.
