Research and Grants Administration supports externally funded research, grants development, research review and training at CAMC and WVU-Charleston Division.

INSTITUTIONAL SCIENTIFIC REVIEW BOARD
The Institutional Scientific Review Board (ISRB) reviews all expedited and full-board investigator-initiated research proposals for sound scientific design and methodology. Please be advised that all resident research must be reviewed by Dr. Mary Emmett, Director, Health Services and Outcomes Research prior to ISRB submission 304-388-9971

INSTITUTIONAL ANIMAL CARE AND USE COMMITTEE
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) reviews all animal use research conducted at or sponsored by CAMC and/or WVU-Charleston Division to ensure the safeguarding, maintenance, and use of all dead or alive vertebrate animals in research, medical training, and clinical teaching activities. 304-388-9978
SPONSORED PROJECTS
Sponsored Projects at CAMC Institute are governed by agreements and contracts and are conducted within a framework of federal regulations and CAMC Institute policies and procedures. 304-388-9974
GRANTS
Assistance is provided to staff, students, residents and faculty throughout the grant life cycle. Assistance is provided in identifying funding sources, preparing and submitting the application. Once the grant is awarded, the office will assist with reports and will assure compliance with federal regulations, sponsor guidelines, and institutional policies. 304-388-9978
INTERNAL FUNDING SOURCES
RESEARCH APPROPRIATIONS
The CAMC Institute Research Appropriations Committee will support creative scholarly efforts by medical staff, faculty and professionals from the CAMC system and WVU- Charleston Division. The primary goal is providing start-up funds for new investigators or new projects with potential for attracting external support and future publication.

MAIER RESEARCH SUPPORT PROGRAM
The CAMC/WVU Research Support Program makes discretionary grants to support research at CAMC and WVU. This program funds projects whose Investigators are medical students, residents, interns, or fellows.

IRB training is available for anyone wishing to learn more about the research review process. Monthly Research “Lunch and Learn” educational sessions focus on research education and are open to faculty, staff and students.
