Diabetes Education for the Primary Care Providers Recertification Course
You must first complete the initial Diabetes Education for the Primary Care Provider course before completing this course. If you have not done so click here to go to that course.

Phase II of this program entitled , " Diabetes Education for the Primary Care Providers Recertification Course" is, presented by the West Virginia Diabetes Prevention and Control Program, and is intended to introduce the 2006 American Diabetes Association Clinical Practice Recommendations to West Virginia Primary Care Providers and other health care professionals. The goals of the program are to further increase your diabetes knowledge and skills in order to promote better health care management of persons with diabetes.

In order to take this recertification course, you must have completed Phase 1 entitled, "Diabetes Education for the Primary Care Provider" . Upon completion of both of these programs, West Virginia Medicaid Providers (DO, MD, NP and CDE) will be eligible for reimbursement from West Virginia Bureau for Medical Services to provide patient education for West Virginians with diabetes. (Physician Assistants will use their employing physicians' Medicaid number and personal 4-digit identifier. These numbers will track your participation.) Completion of the Diabetes Education Modules will enable reimbursement from West Virginia Bureau Medical Services for diabetes education.  Completion of the 5.5 hour web-based training must be completed annually. 

Recertification is required annually and must be renewed by the original calendar date of certification.

Physicians- This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of CAMC Health Education and Research Institute and the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. The CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The CAMC Health Education and Research Institute designates this CME activity for a maximum of 2 hours in Category I credits toward the Physician's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association.

Nurses- The CAMC Health Education and Research Institute is accredited as a provider of continuing education in nursing by the West Virginia Nurses Association. WVNA is accredited by the American Nurses Credentialing Center 's Commission on Accreditation. The offering is approved for 2.4 contact hours (P015-08-06545) WVBPN :01A .

Dietitians-This program has been approved for 2 CPE hour(s) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration, the credentialing agency for the American Dietetic Association.
